Fun Fact

Programs/Events

Public programming was alive and well at Brooklyn Bridge Park in 2009. The Conservancy once again brought a full schedule of exciting events to the Park throughout spring, summer, and fall - all FREE!

Throughout the year, nearly 25,000 people flocked to the park with friends and family to enjoy a record 144 events! Park goers reveled in old favorites such as the 10th annual Movies With A View series, Waterfront Workouts, boating, bird watching and Green Team as well as our exciting new programs including Rove the Cove, Seining: The River Wild and much, much more.

Since 2000, more than half a million visitors have enjoyed free public programs produced or supported by the Conservancy. Each year, our number of events and attendees have grown, resulting in a larger constituency of park supporters from all over the city and around the world.

Nearly 275,000 people have attended the 423 public events that the Conservancy has presented in the park. In addition, we have spearheaded special programs like the Floating Pool and Beach (71,644 visitors in 2007) and the Pier One Pop-Up Park (192,000 visitors in 2008).

A full schedule of events will be announced in the spring. The follwing are some of the programs to look for in 2010.

Educational Programming
Year-round course offerings
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy seeks to educate and inspire urban youth with the wonders of Brooklyn Bridge Park, the East River and the Hudson River Estuary. We offer a series of hands-on, park-focused programs to local public schools designed to provide Brooklyn students with an engaging on-site experience. Students learn about the natural environment, ecology, local bird and plant life.

Movies With A View
Every Thursday night in July & August
Where the drive-in meets the water!
For 10 years movie goers have gathered in New York City’s most stunning film venue, every Thursday in July and August, under the Brooklyn Bridge. All movies are free! Movies With a View have been made possible by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Park Stewardship Events
May - October
Join the Green Team every week from May to October, and join us in the Park for "It's My Park!" Day, National Estuaries Day, and other events to celebrate and care for our beautiful park.

The Conservancy brings these programs and events to the public in partnership with the the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation.

The Conservancy is grateful for the generous support and participation of our sponsors and the many local individuals and businesses that help make these events possible.
