The construction of the Brooklyn Bridge began in 1869. It was completed and opened to the public in 1883. The first automobiles drove across the bridge in 1925, and the last elevated train crossed in 1944.

Support our Public Programs and Special Events
The Conservancy needs dedicated volunteers to help us during our busy programming season. Join our volunteer film committee or help out with one of our seining workshops. Call 718-802-0603 for more information.

Join the Green Team
Active from April through October, Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm. The Conservancy's Green Team provides critical care for our growing, and much used park. Weekly sessions focus on new plantings, mulching, weeding, clearing beds and the shoreline. Spend a little time getting to know your neighbors while caring for the park. Special Projects
The Conservancy seeks volunteers for special projects such as photography management, park campaigns, mailing lists updates and much more. Let us know your special skills and we will try to match them with our needs. Call 718-802-0603 for more information.
